The Justice Department faces partly conflicting goals as it weighs how to proceed in its inquiry into the handling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago in the wake of a key legal ruling on Monday, former prosecutors say

A personal, guided tour to the best scoops and stories every day in The Wall Street Journal.“She is worried about that 40% of the country that thinks the Justice Department has been unleashed on the former president,” said Saikrishna Prakash, a law professor at the University of Virginia.

Former Attorney General, William Barr, who served during part of the Trump administration, said Tuesday he thought the ruling was flawed and urged the government to appeal it. At the heart of the FBI’s investigation into former President Donald Trump is the handling of classified documents. APPEAL:If the DOJ appeals & wins, it'll set a precedent to define What is executive privilege, what types of communications are privileged (including whether communicatons on business matters from which he could profit) & whether a president can cite privilege to avoid prosecution

The whole concept of 'taint' or 'filter' teams by the DOJ has been called into question by the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals. In essence it is the fox guarding the hen house. See In re Search Warrant Issued June 13, 2019, 942 F. 3d 159 (4th Cir. 2019), United States v. Elbaz

I say the DOJ should follow the money…it’s not privileged.

All these are supposed to be handled in secret if no political pressure and if DOJ did not give in these pressure

…i’m sure this sets a precedent bc we’ve not a president to take, steal, confiscate classified docs. but isn’t there already law to follow. we don’t have a problem following it for other people…

Opinion | The most twisted portion of Judge Cannon's special master orderThe request for a special master by Trump-appointed Judge Aileen Cannon reads more like a political conclusion in search of a legal rationale than a judicial order. Trump wins after every clown on told you he would lose .FYI - lies a lot why are they on TV ? I can accept judge rulings even when I don't agree if they make sense but this one makes no sense. Is there a way to remove a judge if they continue to make questionable rulings?

Judge grants Trump's request for a 'special master' to review materials seized from Mar-a-LagoA federal judge has granted former President Donald Trump's request to appoint a 'special master' to review materials that the FBI seized from Mar-a-Lago last month. Man, they really do abide by a different set of rules than us, don't they? Amazing the perks you can get despite stealing highly classified governments when you appoint judges entirely uninterested in justice. The Trump- appointed judge also ' temporarily enjoins ' the government from ' reviewing and using the seized materials ' pending the completion of the review . hey everyone who has their homes/cars searched for weed, drugs, or even evidence in an alleged crime, make sure you demand a “special master” because that’s the precedent now!
