China is flexing its military muscles. Is Taiwan ready? Taiwanese soldiers and reservists are concerned.

The concern that China might try to seize Taiwan is preoccupying American military planners and administration officials. Few of them think Taiwan’s military could hold the line.

Mr. Xiao dismissed his cohorts as strawberry soldiers, a term used in Taiwan to describe young people raised by overprotective parents who bruise easily. While he said he is willing to serve, he doubted the island would stand much chance against China’s People’s Liberation Army. Grant Newsham, a retired U.S. Marines colonel who spent 2019 in Taiwan studying the island’s defenses, said Taiwan has a solid core of well-trained troops and “superb officers that are ready to fight.” Other military experts compare Taiwan’s top pilots and officers to the world’s best.

FaustoChou This is not the army of Taiwan, but the army of the old China (Republic of China)!

i think united states is behind taiwanese soldiers.

Bad WSJ.. how many times have we told you to stop manufacturing consent for new wars.

us war monger generals did not learn from vietnam and afg ... you will get nothing from south china sea. you took 2 years in afg but failed but chia need few hours or days to settle puppet Taiwan govt....

Is the u.s ready?

SHOULD. BE

Totally misleading article. Taiwan’s armed forces are comprised almost totally by volunteers. Conscripts were NOT even assigned to combat units before this September!

What do you think? I can’t believe you’re still read by anyone.

Unfortunately, leaders have lost the balance of needs and wants!

What ya going to do when over 1/4 million PLA personnel storming the island by ship, sub & parachute in for a surprise visit.

come on pu&&y china test our your military

Afghan style, wise. do not cheat by America. civil war will follow Afghan, not to kill our own people.

Chinese never scare. if US come, they won't go back alive. Taiwan is China's land. any dogs come in, we will break their legs.

The CCP's victory in Taiwan will be easier than the Taliban's stunning return in Afghanistan.

US media outlets writing articles complaining about or chastizing state actors for 'flexing their military muscles' is beyond rich.

wsj is manipulating the audience by telling u half truth.

elon, is that you ?

Is US ready?

good

Does Taiwan’s Military Stand a Chance Against China? Few Think So.\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\n\tPoor preparation and low morale are pressing concerns for Taiwan’s armed forces. One conscript said his basic training mainly involved sweeping leaves, moving spare tires and pulling weeds. Let’s get them trained up on deploying and launching nuclear weapons. If taiwan isn’t interested in defending their island, no one else should have an interest either! Get serious or get swallowed! The US shouldn’t spend 10 min or $10 defending Taiwan unless they clearly demonstrate that they are SERIOUS about defending it themselves! Time for Taiwan to take their military quality seriously and fast! Don’t count on anyone else, especially in the beginning of an armed conflict!

Fresh lockdowns in China as local Covid-19 infections spread to 11 provincesAuthorities in northern China are reimposing lockdowns and other emergency measures to curb the spread of coronavirus, with health officials warning of a worsening outbreak after the country recorded more than 100 cases across 11 provinces over the last week. China has the most scientific and strict epidemic prevention measures in the world, and the Chinese people have excellent public morality to abide by the epidemic prevention measures. I believe that the epidemic situation will soon be clear, as before. In west,it is pretty good day if only have 100 cases in 11 countries(Chinese 11provinces can be considered more than 11countries).But they can never achieve such greatness.
