SAN DIEGO — It was the best possible review Connor McGuiness could have given after watching Walker Buehler throw a bullpen session Friday afternoon.Buehler did his throwing Friday at Titleist Performance Institute north of San Diego, where motion-capture information and other technology will allow the Dodgers and Buehler to analyze where he is at in his recovery from last year’s elbow surgery.
“For him actually? Who knows. We’ll see,” McGuiness said when asked if Sept. 1 is a realistic target. “You never want to guarantee a date or anything like that, because who knows? Anything could potentially happen as he goes through it. I think it’s one of those things where if he passes all the proper tests, and our group, with the resources we have, feel good about it, we’ll be ready to rock and roll.
“I’ve done a little bit of everything when I was with Tampa. So I don’t think it’ll be too much of an adjustment. It’s just a matter of being ready. And like I said, I’ve made some good adjustments, so just keeping those in good places.”“I think for Yarbs there’s going to be opportunities to start, other opportunities to come in and pitch the bulk of a game. He’s done them both,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.
