Davies will return to the long-running series in 2023, which also happens to be the show’s 60th anniversary.Studios and Welsh-based Bad Wolf. When Davies, who is Welsh, revived the show 16 years ago he moved production to Wales.

Chibnall has been showrunner on the series since 2016, when he took over from Steven Moffat. Earlier this year, Chibnall and the current doctor. They will first take part in a trio of specials as well as an “epic blockbuster special” which will be broadcast in fall 2022 as part of the BBC’s Centenary celebrations.
