If ticket sales are lower, in the $80M range, then the loss swells to around $30M+. This comes after the grand under-performance of the mid-$50M Warner Bros. horror production, a studio which often hits home runs in the horror field off its New Line label, not to mention it’s the third dud from the Burbank lot in a row this fall after wide releasesPet Sematary

Saw it today, brilliant film, if you liked the shining you will love this.

Man, this is heartbreaking. Doctor Sleep is a tremendous film that, yes, I did enjoy more than the 1980 The Shining. I foresee a huge fan base developing for this film as more people discover it on home video. Count on my Blu Ray purchase.

Why do people leave these good or at least interesting movies in the dirt but see trash like every Disney live action remake in the billions?

Problem with Doctor Sleep was who was its target audience those who saw The Shinning in cinemas now in their late 50s or millennials this is the problem with long gap sequels they rarely play to both demographics

it’s by far muCH better than IT chap. 2 was

It’s actually a really good movie bummer

How about we wait before films are out of theaters before declaring how much money they’re gonna lose? Tiring trend.

Unfortunate it was a really good film. Midway had decent action but a terrible lead actor basically ruined the film for me.

have not seen it yet but still sad it will lose money. im a fan of Mike Flanagans work

Ahhh thats a shame Ewan is such a delightful and talented man.

Kinda surprised

That’s such a stupid take. “Lose” Smh.

Needed to be a horror film, but it’s more of a sci-fi thriller

Guess I don’t see it as a flop, the movie was brilliant. My theater was mostly full

Doctor Sleep was descent, but hardly anyone was in the theater this weekend

it may be good (honestly don't know) but sequel-ing a Kubrick film? 🙃

It was so good. They just released it at the wrong time
