BREAKING: The draw to determine the singles brackets at the Australian Open has been postponed until further notice, a tournament official says. There was speculation that the delay reflected uncertainty over whether Novak Djokovic will be able to compete.

AP Photo/Mark Baker)Novak Djokovic has acknowledged that his Australian travel declaration form contained incorrect information, as the government nears a decision on whether to deport the Serbian tennis star, who is not vaccinated against COVID-19, on public interest grounds.

“Most of us thought because Mr. Djokovic hadn’t been vaxxed twice that he would be asked to leave,” Joyce told Nine Network television on Thursday. “Well, that was our view, but it wasn’t the court’s view.” There was speculation that the delay reflected uncertainty over whether Djokovic will be able to compete.

The state recorded 37,169 new COVID-19 cases in the latest 24-hour period on Thursday, as well as 25 deaths and 953 hospitalizations. In a statement posted to his social media accounts on Wednesday, the tennis star blamed “human error” by his support team for failing to declare that he had traveled in the two-week period before entering Australia.

The statement was posted while Djokovic was in Rod Laver Arena holding a practice session, his third on the tournament’s main court since being released from four nights in immigration detention.

Look at the mess he’s caused. This is a prime example of thinking you are above the rules.

Political torturing. Nothing else. Australians elections are near by, and whats the better way ro hife your incompetence than to use all the state power against...a tennis player. But... People are stupid and will swallow anything . If Novak is biggest AU problem than deport him

Unbelievable...

HE IS NOT SPECIAL. HE DOES NOT DESERVE PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT! SEND HIM HOME!

servehimOUT!!

If Novak smokes or commit suicide, it's his right. But he has no right to spread ths KillerKontagiousKovid. Nw tht d govt knows wht thy know, thy can't risk an outbreak. Imagine wht would happen if someone close contact w Novak at AO dies of covid. Govt will b blamed for inaction

I blame Australia tennis for all this mess. Special treatment gone wrong n now everybody suffering. A respectable person would have withdrawan from the tournament so he doesn't pull everybody down with them. This is what Osaka did last with French open saga. But nooo..his Ego

mtnbvan

Why an entire country has to be in conflict for an ignorant selfish guy who’s only talent is to strike a tennis ball? He consciously broke the rules in at least two countries. In five years he will be irrelevant, the precedent will outlast him, detain him and deport him. Settled!

'Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!' (Sir Walter Scott, 1808)

call him hemorrhoid Djokavic cause he a pain in the ass.

Send him home. Bye, bye!

Jeez🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Just drop him.

No, he should be banned just like that blaçk girl who smoked weed before the Olympics. End of story!!

This is more than your PA making a mistake on your travel information and vaccination status. You lied. Period.

Seems a bit disrespectful to all the other players.

Djokovic

Send his ass home
