It’s not that there are too many, it’s that they all rely too heavily on nostalgia to push the narrative. Throwing in old characters and tropes make all the new film seem the same.

Still haven't seen SW Rogue One, Solo or The Last Jedi, so I really can't say much, other than I'd like to see them & will likely miss Rise of Skywalker too. Why? Bad former friends & their machievellian ways. Don't take what I said here or anywhere else out of context, please.
The Last Jedi was bad but Solo was quite good. It’s been mixed bag.
I mean that's ok he's entitled to keep his head in the sand one day the box office will bottom out like merchandise and unlike Transformers, Star Wars wont have China for life support.
Doesn’t seem to be a problem for Marvel movies. Solo suffered as a backlash against TLJ, which was pure trash. This Skywalker Rising thingy will make some money, but way way less than the other two.

Change it up. A new film every two years, and fill the void with series for smaller stories set across the galaxy. There are thousands of planets and many different eras to dive into. This is what I foresee being the best approach for fans.

Some people may feel that Marvel films are only for kids and that Scorsese films are for grownups. I’ve watched Scorsese films when I was younger and have been watching all the Marvel movies while I’m much older. Personally, I can say that I’ve been enjoying almost all of them.
