Disney CEO Bob Iger answered employee questions during a 45-minute town hall with employees.
The remarks come after Disney had faced criticism under previous CEO Bob Chapek for its handling of Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill, which banned instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade. Disney's recent inclusion of unambiguously gay characters in animated films has also drawn criticism from anti-LGBTQ activists.
With the Florida bill, Chapek has said he had initially decided not to speak out on the measure because he wanted to work "behind the scenes" to engage with lawmakers. However, his silence led many opponents of the bill to believe Disney was being complacent. On Monday, Iger told employees that he is still getting up to speed on the upcoming dissolution Reedy Creek district.
Another big controversy has involved Disney's animation studios, which have started including more LGBTQ characters as part of Pixar and Disney Animation's efforts to produce stories that include a more diverse swath of characters and cultures.

florida’s government shouldn’t have taken away the reedy creek district. instead they shoulda just gave a similar deal to universal and bush gardens. i don’t see any economic value in taking it away
Go woke, get broke! I would pull my investment in DIS if I had any. Disney is currently laser focused on sexualizing everything.
Double down on what doesn't sell. Solid strategy!
We gonna see Gay Mickey in future🤣🤣🤣
I will never go there again
just put a new rating on each show like the 'smoking, violence, foul language' etc to include 'LGBTQ content'.
mickey mouse as a homofob!
“Disney's recent inclusion of unambiguously gay characters in animated films has also drawn criticism from anti-LGBTQ activists” No. It’s drawn criticism from average PARENTS who want to teach their toddlers to pre-teens about sexuality themselves.
97% of people can't stand all this woke shite 🤮
That’s cause RD sparked him publicly. He knows his place now. Good CEO
As a conservative, I can support this notion that there needs to be a balance. Inclusion was always a Disney staple. No one cares about 2 guys kissing. If there’s raunchy content, regardless of orientation, then that’s for the parent to decide if they want to let their kid watch
Disney is in self destruct mode like what Brandon and the Dems are doing to America. CNBC has to meet their daily woke quota by spewing support for it.
Spare me the gay mouse trap!!!
Iger doesn't understand why Disney is underperforming. I guess Disney will be looking for another CEO in 12-24 months.
disney and the media it's so wrong about the 'don't say gay' topic but ohh well, only cult members listen to your ideas
Where does it say don't say gay in the bill? I'll wait
Fuck that bullshit and quit teaching it to kids.
And we the public will continue to avoid Disney products and productions. If Disney fails to put LGTBQ warnings on movies many will not allow their kids to watch
Iger is just as bigoted as Chapek. Disney will continue to be intolerant to anyone with different beliefs or values.
The answer should’ve been that since the agreement was implemented between Disney and Florida in 1955, it is enforced unless Disney wants to start being taxed. If Disney did not want to adhere his company to such a Johnson Amendment-style agreement, he shouldn’t‘ve done it.
Eat your Heart out wRONg DeSantis.. GovRonDeSantis RonDeSantisFL christinepushaw
'don't say gay' was never in the bill, but the truth doesn't matter to NBC
