It makes you feel good.” The singer’s comments alone were all the magazine needed to decide she was at risk for “heart disease and hypertension – plus dozens of other illnesses.” The outlet even quoted a doctor who’s never treated or met Streisand as saying, “Weight gain, particularly excess fat in the liver, becomes far more dangerous as a person ages.” That might be a general truth, but it didn’t apply to the singer.
The outlet also deceptively left out a section of Streisand’s interview in which she explained she was on a diet. The publication simply borrowed a few comments the singer made about her eating habits and concocted a dramatic and untrue story about her dying. It was all nonsense, as a source close to Streisand assured us this time last year.
