In a statement Thursday, first camera assistant Lane Luper, through his Albuquerque attorney, countered Baldwin’s remarks — just hours before a planned ABC prime-time program. Baldwin told ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos that he didn’t fire the gun during an Oct. 21 rehearsal, killing Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.Baldwin told Stephanopoulos in a clip from “Alec Baldwin Unscripted.
Earlier Thursday, an attorney for Halls corroborated Baldwin’s account in a TV clip posted on Twitter by ABC News. Halls told investigators that he did not check all the rounds in the gun before it was handed to Baldwin — a major breach of safety protocol, according to an affidavit filed with the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.
Something stinks. If nothing else, the armorer will never work again. Not really a hard job you think about it.
They were doing a tight shot of the gun's hammer, He was pulling the hammer back and she was checking the angle and he let it go while it was far enough back that it ignited the live round someone put in the gun. pulling the trigger is not required and that is all he was saying
Why did he pull the hammer back and cock it? He should have checked the gun for bullets himself, and there is no getting around that.
Must have been a second gunman on the grassy knoll
Isn’t it all on tape? Was there not one camera rolling when it happened?
Guns DO indeed 'just go off.' If the mechanism is worn or if it hasn't been properly cocked, it can be jostled and discharge. I can't believe what I am reading from intelligent people.
And he's been in plenty of movies than Alec leads you to believe he's been in with guns.
John gives you a great insight of how guns work and props work on a set!
Yes guns go off, but I was not there.
Obviously they do because this gun had already done just that days before this happened.
Well yes Guns don’t just go off…but who insert a real bullet?
Why did he pull the hammer back?
They do if you pull the hammer back, like he said he did…you don’t need to pull the trigger in that situation, it can accidentally go off..wtf are people even talking about. He was as clear and honest as possible, and people there have confirmed his statements on how it happened
Of course he pulled the trigger, do people really not know how revolvers work?
It's a revolver, you don't need to pull the trigger😂
Guns have safety locks because they can just go off, for example if one gets dropped.
Actually, they do. Isn't that like the first lesson in gun safety?
Let's all just pretend like it never happened and shut the fuck up about it.
This photo is extremely poor taste.
But 👀
This was the dumbest lie to tell. Why can’t he just accept that something awful happened & he was part of it. Everyone knows it wasn’t intentional, so why make it worse with this stupid lie? I actually felt bad for him for this, but he lost me at that moment.
Even if he 'accidentally' pull the trigger, it supposed to be fake bullets ppl OMG HE IS NOT AT FAULT leave him alone
It’s clear in the interview he pulled back the hammer, as far back as he could without cocking it, then just let go. He had pulled it far enough back that the spring had enough force to ignite the primer in the live round. Nothing from the interview indicated he was lying.
True they dont just go off. BUT Someone has to place the LIVE AMMO in the gun. That was NOT ALEC BALDWIN. He is an actor that was doing his job as INSTRUCTED. AS ALL ACTORS DO. He is NOT GUILTY.
One Question. WHO put the live ammo in the gun ? Arrest them for murder PERIOD. Alec is a VICTIM OF CIRCUMSTANCE. He is not a murderer. Lawyers are scum bags that stretch the truth for their $$$$ benefit. AlecBaldwln____
camera assistant found dead later the next day
1) experts say that gun won't fire unless the trigger is pulled, hammer won't come down even if forced 2) how could the bullet hit her if he didn't point the gun at the woman? magic bullet!? 3) first rule of firearm safety is to NEVER point it at anyone you don't intend to shoot
Actually sometimes they do, especially an old western style single action revolver as was the case here. In fact you're not even supposed to have a bullet in one of the six chambers and keep the empty chamber under the hammer for just this reason.
A “misfire” is not the correct term here — it generally means a fun fails to fire a round or fires it incorrectly. In this case, the gun appears to have fired properly, and the round hit the target at which the gun was pointed. Journalists need to use precision in language.
It’s possible he cocked it without realizing he already had the trigger depressed — or that he cocked it and the mechanism failed, which would be easy to determine from a proper inspection. But when one is holding a gun and it fires, it’s bizarre to claim one had no part in it.
Camera assistant? Gtfo
Single actions can’t misfire without the hammer being pulled back
Absolutely he pulled the hammer back all the and letting go of it that’s the same as pulling the trigger if you let the hammer go it smashes into the bullet firing it. Does he believe playing stupid to the mechanics of a gun make him innocent of pulling the trigger he did pull
triggerdiscipline
Weren't there reports of it happening prior to the fatal shooting?
You guys keep covering this story instead of focusing on people getting robbed left and right / inflation and it’s dangers. You guys use to be credible….
let's think he pulled the trigger, still he's not guilty, this was gun Smith's job to make sure that the gun is not loaded
This interview was interesting in that Alec seemed to make it a point of saying how he had “never heard of the term ‘armorer’” and that “prop gun person” is the only term he knew. He still wants to act like he didn’t even know the gun was real. He thinks we are dumb
Did the gun also point itself at a person?
No se disparan? Las carga el diablo? En este caso no parece mágico
Single action revolvers most definitely don’t.
The trigger pulled Alec Baldwin
AB should have stuck to comedy.
Las armas las carga el diablo
Because he’s trying to reduce his liability.
So the reason that the camera crew didn't pull the trigger on the prop gun was because it was not a gun? Why would they? If they didn't have a gun then why would they have pulled the trigger?
