It’s an interesting idea, and one that I like quite a bit, if handled correctly. It would be a way to have a pure PvE-based special event, as things like Iron Banner or bonus valor and infamy are all in competitive PvP events, or at least PvPvE in Gambit’s case. I think most people would agree that the Menagerie is probably the best seasonal bit of content we saw this past year outside of Forsaken, and it would be a shame not to continue to utilize it in some way going forward .I think there are a few potential ways to use Menagerie going forward as this kind of limited-time reward offering:: I mean, this is the one we’re seeing right now, and sure, it could be neat to do in the future as well.
In general, I think it would be cool if we saw the Menagerie stock rotate completely on a seasonal basis to feature new items and keep the activity relevant even outside of special events. It has just too much potential to sit idle and just be a sporadic Austringer or Dust Rock Blues farm, and I do wonder if this is something we could see when Shadowkeep hits, even if Bungie hasn’t mentioned it yet.
We’ll see what Bungie has in store for Menagerie in the future. Personally, I don’t care much for additional drops of the current set of items I’ve already farmed the living hell out of, but if they start awarding bonus XP or new weapons or something, I’ll be back on board real quick.
