Tila es uno de los muchos pueblos del estado de Chiapas –fronterizo con Guatemala-- donde se combinan viejos conflictos sociales, dejación de las autoridades, corrupción política

Era de noche cuando los habitantes de una población del sureste mexicano comenzaron a escuchar disparos, luego el paso de camionetas y las voces de individuos que hablaban de qué casas había que quemar. Pronto comenzaron a verse las llamas en distintos lugares de Tila, un pueblo de Chiapas conocido por sus peregrinaciones religiosas que tiene unos 10.000 habitantes, calles empinadas y está rodeado de montañas.

Los ejidatarios reconocieron que sí quemaron algunas casas, pero aseguran que no fue un acto indiscriminado, sino selectivo contra miembros de Karma, que —aseguran— atacaron a una patrulla de la policía indígena el 4 de junio. “Sí hubo balazos porque no había más opción”, afirmó uno de los ejidatarios. “Nosotros, los legítimos originarios de Tila hicimos una expulsión, que se vayan esos asesinos”.
