Under Webb's tenure, a panic about the sexual orientation of government employees led to mass firings and discriminatory policies during what is called the Lavender Scare.

“For decades, discrimination against LGBTQI+ federal employees was not merely tolerated, it was shamefully promoted by federal policies. The Lavender Scare that took place following World War II is a painful part of America’s story and the struggle for LGBTQI+ rights,” NASA Administrator Bill Nelson SAID

following the release of the report. “NASA’s core values of equality and inclusivity are in part what makes this agency so great, and we remain committed to ensuring those values are lived out throughout the workplace.”According to NASA, the historical investigation examined two particular meetings during June 1950 in which Webb appears relation to the Lavender Scare.

People will be butt hurt about anything.

I don't think it is just or fair to try people to laws that were instated after they committed their actions! Their actions were wrong but were legal at the time. And this trend can destroy the concept of law. Are we supposed to obey laws & regulations yet to be invented?!

Stop politicizing science, this whole thing is nonsense.

Some dick named it while not consulting the astronomical community on principle makes it so it doesn't actually matter if the dude was anti lgbt, the whole suitcase is full of ants lmao Good! What community pushback 😡 a bunch of fanatics who see everything through the identity lens? A sad group of woke zealots whose genitalia, sex lives or ethnicity define who they are, void of individuality and character! alas, Nature is lost!!!
