DeSantis says Florida requires African American history. Advocates say the state is failing that mandate.

“The state of Florida education standards not only don’t prevent, but they require teaching Black history,” DeSantis said last week. “All the important things, that’s part of our core curriculum.” Indeed, Florida has required its schools to teach African American history since 1994, long before the recent push in many states to move toward a more complete telling of the country’s story. The stated goal at the time was to introduce the Black experience to a generation of young people.

“Exemplary” school districts must demonstrate their curriculum included African American topics beyond Black History Month, training for teachers in the subject, involvement of parents in the learning and collaboration with a local university for support. In 1999, a bill that would have required public school textbooks to include African American history went nowhere in the state legislature.

Real history not the spin activists use to get us hating our country so democrats can change the free nation into the new nazi nation

Try showing the numbers of Democrap run cities in comparison.

If Republicans mouths are moving they are lying

Don’t worry because next DeSantis is going to bring back the ever popular segregation and separate water bubblers! What a racist, NAZI piece of crap!

So amusing, CNN seems now fully engaged against DeSantis

He's just ridding the course topics like Queer Theory, Critical Race Theory, gender identity and other crazy ideologies that have nothing to do with African American History. Time to teach, not indoctrinate.

The question is who writes the African American history, DeSantis and the GOP, or scholars ? Shall the narratives and perspectives not also be generated by the African Americans themselves, per experiences lived.

So much so that he’s mandating its removal from school curriculum all over the State, and banning all books from the libraries?

One racist mofo

There are 3 parties to this story and only one verified failure, let's see if you can get this right Party 1 Ron DeSantis Party 2 'advocates' Party 3 CNN making up narratives Hint : Answer is 3 you pick now.

Fascist fantasy…a white fascist governor dictating what people read about Black history. True story. The racist Old South is alive & well in DeSantis-Land. The “F” in Florida stands for “Fascism.” Universal Mind Foundation♾️

False. Fake hit piece in effort to stunt his 2024 aspirations

teach the American history first.. The world needs to understand you guys built a country on genocide

Just make it regular history and be done with it. No more separation.

Worst President Ever! Resign!

Teaching little white children their skin color is inherently evil isn’t teaching “African American history”

He wants it to be FAKE history..that’s his struggle.

Advocates for Marxist indoctrination say that

Partisan left wing Bigots are your source.

Anytime I see the word advocates I'm out.
