A woman in Jersey City's fire department is making history in New Jersey.

Former battalion chief Constance Zappella was promoted to deputy chief, making her the first female deputy chief in the JCFD.

Mayor Steven Fulop says Zappella is also the first and only female deputy chief serving in a fire department in the state, making her New Jersey's highest-ranking professional female fire officer. She was 1 of 4 Deputy Chiefs promoted today and each of them has distinguished themselves with exemplary service to our city. Congratulations to each of them on their new roles and responsibilities in leading the best FD anywhere."I am no longer the young girl who sought to change a century of outdated tradition. I am now humbled and honored to serve as the highest-ranking professional female fire officer in the state and city where I was born and raised," Zappella said in a statement.

Zappella, a Jersey City native, was also the first female firefighter to join the department back in 2003.

Constance Debré’s Deviant, Defiant Performance of MotherhoodIn “Love Me Tender,” the French writer’s account of life after losing custody of her son, the bond between mother and child is as volatile and painful as any other. alexis_ok This is a wonderful, wide-ranging, and, yes, tender review of a truly incredible book. Hats off to alexis_ok for this review, and, more importantly (despite not being named in the piece), hollyglotuk who brought Debré's voice into English for SemiotextePress. Oh God ,plz clear his energies . Plz To lift world's public opinion pressure, the IR changes name of the 'Morality Police'. However, Iranian women & girls are still beaten, imprisoned or killed like MahsaAmini for mandatory dress code. Don't let the IR fool you with lies and be Iranian's voice. IranRevolution
