Three officers fired their weapons at the woman on June 16 near North Broadway and Lawrence Street in Denver. Officers were initially called there at about 11:45 a.m. that morning for a report about a woman standing in the busy intersection with a knife. Minutes later, officers arrived to find the woman still in the road carrying what they called a"very large, hunting-style knife."

Denver's Police Chief said previously that the officers gave the woman commands which she refused to follow. He said officers also deployed their tasers before discharging their weapons. On Tuesday, police released two roughly one-minute long clips of body camera footage. In it, an officer is heard telling the woman to put her hands on her head. She does not do that, and instead, the video shows her appearing to pull out the large knife from her pocket or bag.

They appear to shoot the Tasers but drop them to the ground and grab their guns as the woman continues to advance. When the shooting occurs, the woman appears to be about a car length away from an officer still holding the large knife out in front of her.Denver Police said three officers fired their weapons and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the investigation into the shooting will be conducted by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the Colorado State Patrol, and DPD.
