DENVER — The Denver Police Department said officers shot and injured a man Thursday afternoon in the area of East 47th Avenue and York Street after responding to reports of someone threatening people with a handgun.
The man was taken to a hospital. He was in critical condition and expected to survive, Thomas said. No other injuries were reported, police said. About 20 minutes later, officers contacted the man near 47th and York. The man refused commands to stop and show his hands, and he pulled what looked like a pistol from a bag, Thomas said.
