Demolition of the former Century III Mall in West Mifflin, Pa., is officially underway, as crews started knocking down parts of the parking garage. The mayor says this will be a long process and the entire mall won't be demolished within a year's time. Two people were arrested for trespassing on the closed property during the demolition.

Demolition of the former Century III Mall in West Mifflin , Pa., is officially underway, as crews started knocking down parts of the parking garage Saturday and continued their work Monday. This is the first step before the western Pennsylvania mall property itself will be demolished.The West Mifflin mayor says this will be a long process .'They’re only starting on the parking garage , which is still in itself massive, so I can’t see it being completed.

Once you demolish it, you have to crush it, haul it away. There are so many things you have to take into consideration. This whole mall won’t be demolished within a year's time,' Mayor Christopher Kelly said.As demolition began, an issue this site has seen multiple times before happened again.
