More Democrats in Congress have been vocally supportive of banning Chinese-backed TikTok in the U.S. in recent months, reflecting what experts say is an increased willingness to challenge Beijing.

Keith Krach, a former undersecretary of state for economic growth, energy and the environment in the Trump administration, said members of both parties have long backed taking action against Chinese technology, even if Republicans have been more outspoken in the past.

Hannah Kelley, a research assistant at the Center for a New American Security, likewise said Democrats' willingness to speak out in favor of taking action against TikTok reflects"a convergence in the urgency and action needed to address those concerns." She pointed to frustrations over continuing negotiations between TikTok and the Treasury Department over steps the company could take to address national security concerns and continue operating in the U.S.

"Nobody wants to be cast as being soft on China, so that's probably why you're seeing a lot more support than you saw a few months ago," Lewis said. in a news release with Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida announcing another bipartisan bill in February.

Why are they wasting their time on this BS?! They go on and on about freedom....then this?! And they ignore REAL threats like known hate groups. I am so embarrassed for our nation.

Finally bringing the Democrats around! Thanks, SpeakerMcCarthy

In an increasing effort to challenge Beijing not to do what’s best for your children. Please understand you are never the consideration at no point in time are they thinking about the American people when they make moves? Are they nor you until it’s time to tax you?

100% BAN TIKTOK!!

It's kind of like allowing the nsa to spy on Americans. Or you know anywhere. It's like as they say 'big brother' if companies can try to exploit data for unsavory reasons. That's a bigger problem than just China doing that.

Industry standards have allowed user data to become more valuable than gold.

Yet when Trump said it he was Racist.

It is not worth it to ban it when no one uses it

Cage Match. Bring it on.

I think we should not legitimize that it is a service in the US. We do not use it.

WCCO They were against it when Trump proposed it.

There are things beyond national pride

Maybe have China not back it because it is causing problems

They can enjoy losing reelection next year, then. People will not stand for free speech violations. This would silence a lot of loud voices.

The US government can’t control TikTok so they’ve created a fear that the Chinese are using it to spy on us. We’ve seen what they did with Twitter and know they did it with Meta. Both parties are guilty of using the media to censor us.

Not a willingness to challeng them but to protect this NATIONS SECURITY FROM THERE SPYING WAYS. it't the best thing for all of us.

The US is losing its grip on global leadership very fast ! Sleepy JoeBiden failed in all aspects miserably

Meanwhile failed Biden
