Democrat Andrew Yang wants to be president - and give you $1,000 a month

NEW YORK - Andrew Yang is ready for his closeup next month at the first Democratic presidential debate, when he knows most Americans will have one question: “Who is the Asian man standing next to Joe Biden?”

The 44-year-old entrepreneur, philanthropist and self-described nerd launched his long-shot bid more than a year ago, centered on a proposal to give every American $1,000 a month in cash. A native of upstate New York and the son of Taiwanese immigrants, Yang would be the first Asian-American president.

Under his “Freedom Dividend” plan, every adult American would receive $1,000 a month regardless of income or work status, a cash infusion he says is the best way to combat the destruction of manufacturing and other jobs due to automation. The proposal would be funded by a European-style value-added tax that Yang says would ensure technology companies pay their fair share.

Yang’s platform includes a dizzying mix of standard Democratic fare like Medicare-for-all; voting reform proposals like eliminating gerrymandering or making the Electoral College proportional; and seemingly quirky concepts such as subsidizing marriage counseling, giving everyone $100 to donate to charity and establishing a $1 billion journalism fund to support struggling local news outlets.

Is that buying votes?

Over the next decade, a few firms are going to automate tens of millions of jobs. (Like amazon who paid 0 federal taxes last year) Yang will tax them and redistribute to the people. The future is coming whether we’re ready or not.

If this craziness ever got adopted, imagine what the borders would look like then. And when those economic migrants still want to live 'off the radar' and still earn $ cash in hand and avoid taxes?

For all the amateur economists here doubting this could work, consider that in 1970 the New York Times ran a letter written by two future Nobel prize economists calling for the govt to pass this. 1200 economists signed it.

If the Federal government stopped ALL other spending, EVERY last penny, it would only increase spending by about $300 billion per year. Or they could more than double the spending. It is difficult to calculate which of those options is stupider than the other.

This has a 'prince of Nigeria' aroma to it, and the 'legion of creation and destruction' with the power to override local building codes seems like a TERRIBLE idea. For instance, If some top government official wanted to build, say, a wall around the entire country.

Guess how far 1000 gets you/month? Of course he wants to give you enough money to go nowhere. That’s how they do it. First with opium, then with paper, then with the stupid people they grew while no one was watching.

two things... 1. if everyone gets 1000 bucks then you are just moving 0 and inflation will follow. 2. with a 22 trillion dollar debt, where is this money coming from.

And add trillions of dollars to our countries debt. Raising inflation which will negate the free money that is given out. Makes so much sense to me lol. Just another political ploy to get votes that will in turn ruin our economy
