At least 73 migrants have drowned when a boat they boarded in Lebanon sank off Syria’s coast, in what is the deadliest such shipwreck from Lebanon in recent years

Lebanon has been seeing a spike in the number of would-be migrants using its shores to attempt the perilous crossing in overcrowded boats to reach Europe.

A regime official said a day earlier that the boat was carrying up to 150 people and authorities said that 20 survivors were taken to hospital, potentially leaving many people still unaccounted for. Many of the boat's Lebanese passengers hail from impoverished regions in the country's north including the city of Tripoli, Lebanon's poorest, which has emerged as an illegal migration hub.

N.J. to send nearly 150 state troopers to Puerto Rico to help with Hurricane Fiona recoveryTwo waves of 74 troopers and one medical doctor will be sent to the town of Vega Baja, Gov. Phil Murphy's office said. That’s 150 more than he sent to LTC homes while residents were dying due to his horrible policy. Apparently NJ residents are not as high a priority. Shouldn’t it be national guard troops? From the states that aren’t currently deploying them to the borders? Why the state police? So, they can use national guard troops to hang out in Washington after the fact when there was no threat, but they can’t go to storm torn PR?
