The District of Columbia is expected to approve a $515 million on Tuesday that will keep the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals at the Capital One Arena for decades to come. Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser shrugged off a CNBC host's concerns about his daughter's safety during a Monday interview.
Veteran show co-host Joe Kernan praised certain aspects of Bowser’s city, while asking a question from his perspective as a father. There is going to be a but coming. My daughter is there. I’m a nervous person already. She’s in her twenties. I already worry,” Kernan said. “So we done the things we know will reset our public safety ecosystem, starting last summer with an emergency crime bill and most recently, just a couple of months ago, with a new crime bill that will really reset our public safety ecosystem.”
During the barricade, officers found 21-year-old Jordan Coates fatally shot outside of her apartment building nearby. Bowser defended her administration's crime-fighting strategy, saying she is seeing changes throughout Washington.
