Police say that Kurtis A. Lamka, 26, allegedly attempted to cause serious bodily injury to his 5-week-old son on Jan. 31 by shaking the child, resulting in severe head trauma. At 11:20 a.m., EMS was called to the house for a baby seizing and was taken to the Hershey Medical Center where he was rushed into surgery due to pressure in his head, police said. The police were called to the hospital that afternoon. The baby had a retinal hemorrhage in his right eye, police said.
A doctor at the hospital told police on Feb. 4 that the baby was still experiencing constant seizures in the brain and advised police that the incident was “caused by severe trauma” and it was uncertain if the baby would survive, the criminal complaint said.
