'I lost my son, he's never coming back,' Daunte Wright's father, Aubrey Wright, said. 'I can't accept that -- a mistake, that doesn't even sound right,' he added. 'This officer has been on the force for 26 years. I can't accept that.'

by a white police officer in a Minneapolis suburb on Sunday, said they "can't accept" the notion that their son's killing was a mistake.

MORE: Officer who fatally shot Daunte Wright during traffic stop meant to use Taser, police chief says Officers and medical personnel "attempted life-saving measures" on Daunte Wright but he died at the scene, Gannon said. "I know my son was scared. He's afraid of the police, and I just seen and heard the fear in his voice," she added. "But I don't know why and it should have never escalated the way it did."

The parents said they want to see "justice served" and the officer who shot their son "held accountable for everything that she's taken from us." Brooklyn Center Mayor Mike Elliott has said he "fully support[s] releasing the officer of her duties." "However, the officer drew their handgun instead of their Taser," Gannon told reporters. "It is my belief that the officer had the intention to deploy their Taser, but instead shot Mr. Wright with a single bullet. This appears to me, from what I viewed and the officer's reaction and distress immediately after, that this was an accidental discharge that resulted in the tragic death of Mr. Wright.

CBS REPORTER WHO REFERENCED 'RIDE THE LIGHTNING' AS ELECTRIC CHAIR MUST BE OVER 60....... THE NEW KIDS 50 AND UNDER REFERENCE THE ' TASER' AS 'RIDE THE LIGHTNING'. GENERATIONS SPEAK DIFFERENT LANGUAGES.

Some of these responses are so hateful. My God. A 20 year old lost his life. A father lost his son.

20 years on the force and makes a mistake like that come on

The tragedies start at home

No, the officer's age is 26, not on the force for 26 years. Either way, a preventable tragedy.

This is a tragedy and I truly offer my sympathy to the family. I also believe the cop should be charged . But this kid was a Mulatto. The media is focused on black. I'm a little confused , did the cops just shoot the black part of him or the white part too?

Daunte Wright's parents speak out after shooting in ABC News exclusive: 'He's never coming back'Former Pres. Barack Obama says fatal police shooting of Daunte Wright amid Derek Chauvin trial shows 'just how badly we need to reimagine policing and public safety in this country.' What the hell does that mean? Reimagine. Start sending out your democratic social workers to an angry dispute involving a knife or weapon of any kind. I’m curious to see your imagination at work. And yet you never hear from Obama, BLM, liberals, and the media that people shouldn't resist arrest, nor engage in behaviour that leads to your arrest. Never take responsibility for your life, just blame the police when the rightly arrest you. STFU! You had 8yrs!

Police release body camera footage of Daunte Wright shootingThe police chief of a Minneapolis suburb said Monday he believes one of the department's officers wanted to use a Taser but mistakenly drew her service weapon before she fatally shot a Black man point-blank during a traffic stop the day before. Come on! A 26 year veteran doesn’t know the difference between a gun and a taser? I’m not buying! Why is a taser required to be pulled for a standard traffic stop if the person being stopped is complying with all of the officers demands, unless they train their cops to pull their guns out on everyone that is not fair skinned by default
