The families of George Floyd and Philando Castile joined mourners in Minneapolis on Thursday to bid farewell to Daunte Wright, a Black man whose death this month at the hands of a police officer prompted renewed cries for justice and accountability.

In his eulogy for Wright, whom he called the"Prince of Brooklyn Center," the Rev. Al Sharpton referred to"a resting place ... a martyr's bench," where the 20-year-old could take his seat next to other Black men killed in encounters with police. "Take your seat, Daunte. Tell George Floyd who you are. Take your seat, Daunte. Shake hands with Philando Castile. Take your seat next to Oscar Grant," the civil rights leader said.

Daunte Wright's aunt: He didn't deserve to die 04:54"And that family, they see us, and they give us hugs, you know, just -- yes, encouragement to keep going because that's what we're going to do. We're going to keep fighting."To mark the start of Wright's funeral, Gov. Tim Walz issued a proclamation calling for two minutes of silence at noon CT in his honor.

What part made him a prince the gun warrant or resisting & fleeing. Inquiring minds want 2 know

The whole world knows these people put themselves in situations like this. If only the kid didn’t resist arrest, he’d be alive.

Daunte Wright to be eulogized at Minneapolis funeralMINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Just days after guilty verdicts were handed down for the former Minneapolis police officer whose killing of George Floyd set off nationwide protests and a reckoning over racism, the family of another Black man killed by police, this time in a nearby suburb, is preparing for his Thursday funeral. Hundreds of people turned out Wednesday at a Minneapolis church for the public viewing for 20-year-old Daunte Wright , a father of one shot by a police officer on April 11 during a traffic stop in the small city of Brooklyn Center. Friends and family members wept as they stood before Wright's open casket, which was blanketed with red roses. All who viewed the open casket on Wednesday saw the young man dressed in a jean jacket bedazzled with several red and green gem-like buttons on both sides of the lapels. He shouldn’t have been gang banging in the middle ofthe night. What no copaganda? Shouldn't you be posting about how an officer donated gifts to an orphanage? Those posts are not news.
