Large areas across central and eastern U.S. will see temperatures reach more than 100 degrees.

Large parts of central and eastern U.S. have been told to prepare for a weekend of record-breaking heat, with some areas expected to experience temperatures reaching 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

Kansas, Illinois, Oklahoma and Washington, D.C. have been warned they could see temperatures reach around 110 degrees Fahrenheit, with areas across the Plains, Midwest and East Coast also expecting temperatures of more than 100 degrees.said several cities, including Detroit and New York, could see their hottest day of the year so far during the next few days.

"Not only will afternoon temperatures and humidity be dangerously-high, but there won't be much relief at night for many," the NWS tweeted."Record warm low temperatures are expected too, with 123 records currently forecast to be tied or broken."warned that the intense humidity will pose significant health risks for those in central and eastern parts of the U.S.
