Dallas Parks overtake Austin in new park score

The students were celebrating the completion of their U.S. History exams.The city of Dallas’ park system is the second-best in Texas, surpassing Austin’s, according to rankings released by the Trust for Public Land last week.

In the past few years, city officials have made efforts to ensure residents could walk to their nearest park in 10 minutes, and the report showed residents living in nonwhite majority neighborhoods have access to 48% more nearby park space than those living in white neighborhoods, and residents in low-income neighborhoods have access to 2% more nearby park space than those in higher-income neighborhoods.“Dallas is in a golden era of parks,” Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson said in a statement.
