Scott Stockton claimed he was defrauded from his share of operating profits from Dallas-based Sun Holdings Inc.
Scott Stockton, 73, was the key operator for as many as 150 Popeyes restaurants during a 17-year career for a subsidiary of Dallas-based Sun Holdings Inc. and owner Guillermo Perales, one of the largest fast food operators in the country. Stockton already ran 23 Popeyes restaurants as a regional manager when Perales bought the company he worked for in 2001, and over the next 17 years, Stockton continued to run the portfolio as it grew to 150 locations, according to court filings.
“Rich or poor, we are all equal before the law,” said Daniel Charest of Burns Charest LLP, Stockton’s attorney. “The jury correctly concluded that Mr. Stockton had been defrauded by Mr. Perales and the other defendants.
