A spokesperson for the campus of the University of the District of Columbia near the shooting said the university and the law school are sheltering in place and locked down.Traffic was blocked from Cleveland Park north with a police line and tape, and crowds poured onto the sidewalk abound the zoo. Pedestrians continued to stream north along the sidewalk, others returning from work, one carrying pizzas, until police blocked the sidewalk at Sedgwick.
The street was jammed with cruisers, fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. A helicopter circled above the school.
