Officer Joshua Smith’s lawsuit, brought by attorneys Peter Mapley and Sean Sobel, said protective services officers forced him to take his pants and underwear off during a search without detailing why they needed an invasive search.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cuyahoga County Jail officer sued the county and accused security officials of illegally searching him while entering the jail.

Smith’ lawsuit, brought by attorneys Peter Mapley and Sean Sobel, said protective services officers forced him to take his pants and underwear off during a search without detailing why they needed an invasive search. Cuyahoga County spokeswoman Mary Louise Madigan said the law department will review the lawsuit once it receives it.The incident happened on April 22 as Smith showed up to the jail to start his shift. He passed through a body scanner that all officers are required to walk through.to cut down on drugs and other contraband getting into the jail.

If it’s part of the job, own it. There’s no law saying there’s no leaving to work somewhere else.

It would be interesting to know if the alleged victim was under surveillance prior to this? Is there or was there an investigation. Who gave the faulty instructions?

A jail officer got a taste of what we've done to inmates and visitors for decades and he's mad about it. Good! It's dehumanizing treatment for ANYONE to receive.
