The parents of school shooter Ethan Crumbley have each been sentenced to at least ten years in prison for manslaughter.

WASHINGTON — The parents of Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley have each been sentenced to at least ten years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. They are theJennifer and James Crumbley were in a courtroom Tuesday for their roles in their son's 2021 mass school shooting."There's nothing I can say that’s going to ease the pain and suffering of the victims and their families," said Jennifer Crumbley.

If there is evidence in other cases that parents are not only ignoring signs of mental health issues, but it's also facilitating the possession of these dangerous firearms, then I think that we're going to see much more cases like this across the United States.I’ve also learned to think, to never think that this could not happen to you," Jennifer Crumley said in court.

“I don’t have a lot of confidence in the exercise of prosecutorial discretion to pick and choose only cases like this,” Evan Bernick, a professor at Northern Illinois University College of Law told the publication. “Once you’ve got a hammer — and this is definitely a hammer — everything can look like a nail, and people aren’t necessarily focused on how you’re wielding it.”

Both parents received credit for the 858 days they had already served. The Crumbleys may not have any contact with the families of the four victims killed in the 2021 shooting.
