Crowds gathered in smaller, more rural towns across New York on Saturday to protest racism and honor black lives lost to police brutality — reflecting how widespread protests have become outside of major cities.

"Our discomfort is but a fraction of the pain," said Teresa Veramendi after the bells had stopped ringing.

Speakers at Saturday's vigil also read out the names and manner of deaths of several black people either killed by police or during a racist altercation. "I've been to a couple of different frat parties, and there's been a couple of people that — one too many drinks — and they think it's comfortable to say the N-word," she said."Me being outnumbered, if I say something, I've been told I'm starting a problem."

Why arent they taking down statues still standing?

Why don’t they protest black lives lost by black murders

Why don’t they protest black on black crime?

755 total deaths by police of the past 5 years out of MILLIONS on police interactions. Epidemic?

The silent majority will remember in November but of course that doesn’t fit your narrative. realDonaldTrump

New York Times says controversial Tom Cotton op-ed did not meet its standardsIn a stunning reversal, The New York Times said Thursday evening that a controversial op-ed from Republican Sen. Tom Cotton did not meet its standards. The statement came only hours after the newspaper's editorial page editor, James Bennet, defended publishing it amid outrage from staff. They have standards? I’d have never thought twice about reading it. But, now I will. Thanks for the heads up. The New York Times has killed Journalism! God help America with this Democrat state run media!

After backlash, New York Times admits it should not have run Tom Cotton op-edThe New York Times admitted Thursday it erred in publishing an op-ed column by Sen. Tom Cotton calling for the military to quell protests. The hawkish, one-sided column published Wednesday outraged many, including staff members, many of whom tweeted in solidarity : "Running this puts black nytimes staff in danger." In a statement late Thursday, the Times said Cotton's piece did not meet its standards, though it did not explain exactly why it was published. "We've examined the piece and the process leading up to its publication. This review made clear that a rushed editorial process led to the publication of an Op-Ed that did not meet our standards. As a result, we're planning to examine both short term and long term changes, to include expanding our fact checking operation and reducing the number of Op-Eds we publish." A separate report by the Times late Thursday said opinion-page editor James Bennet had not read the column before publication. Inhave to argue with the bosses now. It was an opinion piece. It was just his opinion. I've read worse. Whatever... No not “admits”.... they CAVED! Disgusting. Keep in mind it was just hours after they ran it.... BOTH Editor and publisher came out and VIGOROUSLY DEFENDED THE PRINTING!!! They simply caved to the screaming lunatic left!! People... it was an OP-ED!! Opinion.
