Crossroads: Geologists reject the Anthropocene proposal

However, Prof Jan Zalasiewicz of the University of Leicester, who supported the Anthropocene designation, contested the voting process, alleging procedural irregularities. Nonetheless, the IUGS proceeded with the decision, backed by the chairs of its 17 subcommissions.Despite the setback, proponents of the Anthropocene concept remain undeterred. Zalasiewicz emphasized the importance of clarifying the term’s meaning.
