Cross-Canada RoadTrip: Whitehorse to Toronto in two 2022 ToyotaMotorCorp Tundras. Some 5,500 km and seven days of driving through one magnificent country show the new-gen truck is just as stout as the old. — via drivingdotca travel autonews Canada...

Google Maps was exceptional at keeping us on track. The Pro’s big, 14-inch screen is fantastic, easy to see and operate, and only occasionally a little glitchy. Inside the cabin, the centre console squeaked a little. We’re noticing wind noise from the driver’s window on the green SR5, but none on the Pro. Compared to the last-generation Crewmax, there’s more wind noise in the cabin with the sunroof open and powered rear window down.

On day two we ducked out of Liard Hot Springs towards Dawson Creek, again the scenery as spectacular as the day before — wild buffalo, bear, caribou, elk, coyotes, fox, and deer roaming the planet like it was 10,000 years ago.Article contentBut in the afternoon while passing another vehicle, the SR5 threw three warnings on the dash — check engine, grille shutter malfunction, park brake support malfunction, “visit your dealer.” Great. We barely had cell reception.

The Pro is more enjoyable to drive, however, its extra height, firmer ride, and general character far more interesting. The hybrid system does add a layer of fussiness to the driving equation, though, with a somewhat annoying sound when in hybrid-only mode. It just seems in the hybrid there’s always something going on, although it will favourably glide in hybrid mode even at speeds up to about 100 km/h.
