Parents have swarmed school board meetings to rail against 'CRT.' Teachers we spoke to say they've hardly heard of it.

And yet teachers ― the folks that are dealing with the lion’s share of criticism as “indoctrinators” or worse ― have been sorely missing in this conversation. With that in mind, we recently spoke to educators across the country and asked them a few simple questions: “Are you teaching CRT in your classroom? If not, whatHere’s what they had to say, in their own words. “I am a white, male teacher and my students are primarily Black. Race is not a subject we shy away from.

I’m a second grade teacher in Texas. We teach content that is required by the Texas Education Agency. These standards are called the. We do not even begin to touch on any of the tenets of CRT. However, I am able to incorporate diversity and a celebration of BIPOC culture and achievements while also adhering to state standards.

One of our core texts is “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. We analyze all the perspectives in that book. Scout, the innocent white girl watching as her father defends a Black man falsely accused of raping a white woman. The way Scout internalizes society’s racism and her confusion about this. How she is treated at school and in her community because of her father.

There’s been a lot of controversy in my district about matters of race. Just last year, there was an art teacher inbecause an education video they watched featured a mural with the phrase Black Lives Matter. The district sees this as part of a controversial movement of racial division, so they claim he should have sent a permission letter to parents who might want to opt their students out o the lesson.

Some of the loudest voices in the movement, in this area, have started just flat-out saying they are against equity. I disagree with that, for obvious reasons. I mean, imagine holding a sign that says “Stop Equity!” and thinking you are the good guy. Still, at least they’re honest and not hiding behind the CRT-nonsense.

An exodus of educators: Resignations hit schools amid furor over critical race theoryBattles over diversity and equity initiatives in public schools have resulted in administrators and teachers being fired or resigning over discussions about race. Speaking the truth about race, slavery , inequities would be too taxing on the psyche of White Americans...the teens especially. Wow, the atrocities committed towards nonWhites in America past, present and now is unconscionable!...but true. That's the plan. Be fired or resign if you don't conform to 'Group Think', then, the only ones left to teach will all be woke.

Death threats and fights over Critical Race Theory have driven at least six educators to resignThe educators have been accused of being 'activists' with an 'agenda' to 'indoctrinate' students with 'far-left ideology' that would 'institutionalize discrimination against white children.' I oppose crt or anything like it but death threats cross the the line. I remember when newsweek used to be a good magazine that attempted objective journalism. Now sadly it appears to be biased “activist” journalism that misrepresents data and issues into pre formed narratives…with no real attempt to help its audience understand issues I looked up what Critical Race Theory was, and... it's just historical fact? Like, yeah, I know the past was terrible, but that doesn't mean we we shouldn't teach it...
