Firefighters are battling a massive fire at the former Tustin Air Base in Tustin Tuesday morning.

The blaze started around 1:30 a.m. at Valencia Avenue and Armstrong Road. When crews arrived at the scene, they found flames bursting through the roof of a wooden building, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

A helicopter was also called in to drop water on the fire to help put out the blaze.The fire started inside a hangar that once housed blimps used in World War II.The historic hangars have been featured in television and films, including 'JAG, ' 'The X Files,' 'Austin Powers,' 'Pearl Harbor ' and 'Star Trek.' Authorities are asking motorists to avoid the area.
