The Covid vaccination campaign in the US cut hospitalizations and deaths by nearly half in the first 6 months of 2021, new research suggests.

Dr. Sudhakar Venkata Nuti, an internal medicine physician at Massachusetts General Hospital, said the new model confirms that what health officials said about the importance of vaccination against Covid was correct.

Nearly 208 million people ages 5 and up in the U.S., or 62.5 percent, have been fully vaccinated, with either two doses of an mRNA vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and more than 75 million have received an additional booster dose.

U.S. sets new COVID hospitalization record, signaling Omicron surge could be less mild than experts hopedThe U.S. set a new COVID-19 hospitalization record Monday, exceeding 140,000 patients for the first time since the start of the pandemic — a warning sign that the Omicron surge is already more severe than in other countries and will only get worse VivBWoke How it started... . COVID-19 DEATHS Credit: Trump, Jared and Ivanka Some people call this manslaughter. WasOnceLou It's more severe because only 62% of Americans have had 2 shots, and even fewer have had a booster.
