The death toll has fallen from past surges, but rates this summer still equate to COVID being one of the leading causes of death in the U.S.

And fewer than 6% of immunocompromised people have been protected with Evusheld, a pair of shots that can armor them with antibodies that they do not generate from vaccination, CDC researchers haveAnd although their risk is much lower, vaccinated people have nonetheless been among those who have died from COVID. In California, 152 vaccinated people died of COVID in June and early July, out of more than 11 million vaccinated people across the state, according to state data.

He lamented that other people had become “complacent” and unwilling to take simple steps such as wearing a mask indoors to protect those at highest risk. No matter what he was doing, though, Williams said Redd would pick up the phone when she called and tell her he would call her back. Even if he were on stage, she said, “he would answer and say, ‘Sis, I’m giving a speech, I’ll call you back.’ ”

“As a society, we are not really fully processing what it means to lose people in the way we have,” said Vickie M. Mays, a UCLA professor in psychology and health policy and management. Even when she fell ill, Gutiérrez was generous with her daughter about her frustration and sadness, her daughter remembered. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer during the first winter that COVID-19 was battering hospitals. Her son and daughter avoided going out much, trying to protect her from the virus as she underwent chemotherapy. The new Omicron COVID-19 vaccine is useful but shouldn’t skew our expectations of the pandemic’s future.

why haven't all the homeless folks of LA been wiped out?

POTUS declared COVID was over last night. Why the updates on COVID19 CovidIsOver

Not true, there is no Covid death count on the 'news' screen. Biden got rid of Covid deaths.

Everybody who wants the COVID vaccine has had the COVID vaccine. 222 million ppl are fully vaccinated 108 million ppl are not. I don't expect that to change.

Summary-the biggest risk of death from covid is to unboosted people over 65 (esp. over 80, POC, men). 'As of early July, unvaccinated people 50 and older were more than a dozen times more likely to die of COVID than vaccinated people of the same ages who had two or more boosters'

Keep the Propaganda going!

You must mean modified flu.

LasVegas is Covid free. Come visit

We all have choices.

We're all back in office, spreading it around like the good little sharers we are.

I got it in July. Nearly killed me and I got all the vaccines

LA Times always trying to strike fear in people.

Wow LAT- always amaze us. The head epidemiologist at USC- said COVID isn’t an issue…

IridescentAshes COVID isn’t over keep your MaskON

25k children aged 5 and under die every day of the year. 50% of them from malnutrition.

LasVegas is free of Covid Come visit

If you have diabetes, COPD, CHF or a multitude of other conditions and test pisitive for COVID & die..........Cause of death?.....COVID wins every time as that's where the federal funding jackpot is.

Thanks to the American coronavirus. The origin of Covid-19.

On April 19, 1995, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building was attacked by a terrorist truck bombing, near 200 people were killed. Just imagine, today's US has to experience two Oklahoma bombings every single day. However, Americans think it's OKAY.🤪

Of they’re unvaccinated I don’t care.

And the deaths per day from lung cancer is what? And breast cancer? Diabetes? Heart disease? C’mon media peeps. Be smarter.

No worries. President Biden just declared the pandemic over.

RT COVID19 billionaire USA

I've heard that over 23 million people in the U.S. still have NOT recovered from contracting COVID-19 in the past 2 & 1/2 years. I hope the invisible virus doesn't do internal damage to kill them.

Lol no

Keep pumping up that fear level. 🖕

Biden has slaughtered 800,000 people wince he was selected as Potus

This is rubbish. People die from the flu and we’ve learned to live with it. The goal was to lower the number of COVID deaths, not eradicate the virus. Sadly, COVID deaths will always be apart of our lives, just like those that don’t survive the flu.

I'm just glad covid19 cured the FLU and any other type of Pneumonia

Are they still counting murder, suicide, car wrecks etc who also have Covid?

***Hospitals are still killing people.. y’all have a typo.

Flagged for misinformation. No separation in the article between deaths with Covid and deaths from Covid.

Are you sure it’s from Covid or maybe from the “vaccine”?

It’s almost like it’s a flu.

Get your booster shot!

You're still trying to milk this grift ?

Las vacunas son las que realmente están matando a miles!!! NO a la Agenda 2030, NO A LOS GLOBALISTAS 😡😡

Hey it’s ok. As long as the corporate machine keeps running, and people keep spending money that they don’t have, what’s a few 100 people a day? It’s a small price to pay to keep the rich happy! (Who are all vaccinated BTW)

Cut the shit, even liberals are unmasked and not buying this bullshit anymore.

It aint killing me

I guess it's one way to deal with climate change...reduce the population via apathy.

elizabeth_joh Any story that reports on numbers of deaths without providing information about how many were unvaccinated is doing a huge disservice to people who want to understand how bad the pandemic really is. Those that rejected the vaccine should be in their own group.

It's not going to work in this election cycle.

It's not COVID that kills, but your system!
