Councilman Marc Whyte on Tuesday was scheduled to make his first court appearance on a charge of driving while intoxicated — but his defense attorney punted for the second time this year. Mayor Ron Nirenberg temporarily removed Whyte from three council committees he sat on, making it more difficult for him to influence city policy on their way to the dais. Nirenberg hasn't said when he will reinstate Whyte to those committees.
