In what some are calling a sign of troubles to come for New York City’s bar industry, Pegu Club, a pioneering drinking establishment that helped jump-start the craft-cocktail movement more than a decade ago, said Thursday it was shutting its doors for good.
Founder Audrey Saunders said she didn’t see a way for Pegu Club to survive the postpandemic reality. The bar, located on Manhattan’s West Houston Street, had been set to celebrate its 15th anniversary in August.
