Contaminated eyedrops linked to more deaths, eyeballs removed in patients with bacterial infection, CDC warns

Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria are commonly found in water and soil and on the hands of otherwise healthy people. Infections usually occur in hospital settings among people with weakened immune systems. As many as 37 patients were linked to four health care facility outbreaks, the CDC reported.

This particular drug-resistant strain of the bacteria had never been seen in the United States before this outbreak, the agency said. Not all of the patients had eye infections. Others were found to have respiratory or urinary tract infections. Deaths can occur when the bacteria enter the bloodstream.dated Jan. 20. It is now working with the Food and Drug Administration and state health departments to identify additional cases.

According to the CDC, people should seek medical care if they have symptoms of an eye infection, including:Redness of the eye or eyelid.

This is why we have government regulations. Most are born out of sorrow and tragedy just like this.

It's honestly time to sue the US government for its reckless and deadly (continued) handling of COVID. *Weakened immune systems* is the key factor here. The CDC and both Trump/Biden admins should be sued into oblivion for causing this and all the other recent outbreaks.

I hope the company that manufactures it does not turn a blind eye.

This is very concerning! I would bet money the production equipment was not sterile. Or was this deliberately done ⁉️🥺 I hope they sue. I have a history of dry eye syndrome. Im glad my ophthalmologist told me to use systane eye drops. Other brands tend to irritate my eyes.

That's absolutely terrible...so sad

I just had an eye exam five days ago and this was never mentioned to me. Either nobody in the entire facility knew about this (❗️) or nobody thought it was important enough to mention (‼️).

Thank goodness that is not my latanoprost eye drops.

It's so sad that the world is filled with people who legitimately don't care about people with vision issues and the fact that I haven't seen this relayed to me by literally any of my friends and family who know my struggles just shows how detached everyone is to this.

This is why I never go to the doctor or use eye drops
