Congresswoman Cori Bush spent the night sleeping on the steps of the U.S. Capitol to protest the end of the COVID eviction moratorium.

Bush, who was once homeless herself, is frustrated Congress has just taken a 7-week recess without voting to extend renters' protection. Democrats tried and failed Friday to extend the law, so it's a certainty that the law will expire today.

🚨BREAKING: I’m a formerly unhoused Congresswoman, and I know that people will die if we let the eviction moratorium expire. I just sent a letter to every one of my Democratic colleagues telling them we can’t leave until we pass this extension.

I cannot respect this if people don't want to work i.e. pay their rent they should be evicted too many jobs available rn

Who’s paying the landlord? They have a mortgage to pay too. F’ing lazy freeloaders.

I have a novel idea. Pay your rent.

Get off your ass and get a job.

In 5 months it will be 2 years almost. Get a job and pay you’re rent/mortgage ya free loaders. Tons of places are hiring but people rather sit on their asses and collect.

We need more people like her in Congress! She’s been there and walks the walk!

At what point do people have to pay their bills Been a year and a half. EVERY business is hiring

She done got hit with the ugly stick.

People for the people protest for American rights; they do not simply protest for the White privileges' of not wearing a mask.

Get a job! There are plenty out there!

I understand the frustration but its been a year and a few months , people should have known that any government assistance was temporary.

Good that’s exactly where the tenants that haven’t been paying rent for over a year can sleep….
