La Comisión de Nombramientos Judiciales confirmó a la magistrada Patricia Guerrero en una votación de 3-0 para ocupar la vacante que dejó el juez asociado Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar, quien dejó el cargo el año pasado.
Guerrero, de 50 años de edad, creció en la región agrícola del Valle Imperial y ha trabajado como fiscal, socia de un bufete de abogados, jueza del tribunal superior y actualmente es parte del Tribunal de Apelaciones del 4to Distrito. Será juramentada el lunes por el gobernador Gavin Newsom, quien la nominó.
Guerrero, quien recibió elogios de colegas y miembros de un panel integrado por el secretario estatal de Justicia, Rob Bonta, y la presidenta de la Corte Suprema, Tani Cantil-Sakauye, dijo que se sentía honrada por la importancia histórica que tiene su ascenso al máximo tribunal del estado.Dijo que siempre contó con el apoyo de sus abuelos y padres, quienes migraron desde México para darles una mejor vida a sus hijos.
