A reader notes San Antonians can stream the performances of other cities’ symphonies thanks to their donors.Re: “It was time to let the symphony go,” Another View, Saturday:

He points out that I can listen from home to any major symphony orchestra in the world. There is, of course, a significant difference between live performance and streamed recordings. But I can listen to the world-class, for example, because it is generously supported by patrons and donors in its home city. I can listen for free because someone else foots the bill.

Years ago, for a lot of us, Saturday nights meant dressing up and going out for a leisurely evening of dining, wine-sipping and conversation. The food and service were impeccable, and some places featured live music for dancing. These places were teeming with customers.
