A rendering of Comerica's BusinessHQ, a space the bank is creating for small businesses in South Dallas, shows an interior space with separate areas to work and a communal kitchen. An important question inspired Comerica, the largest bank headquartered in Texas, to transform the first floor of its R.L. Thornton location into a center for small businesses in southern Dallas.
The 8,000-square-foot space will have free workspaces, high-speed Wi-Fi, printing and scanning services, video conferencing rooms and content creation rooms with green screens, backdrops and lighting. The project is a $5 million investment. The bank hopes the resources available at BusinessHQ will give small businesses the “extra spark or extra help” that helps them succeed, Ashford said. It also hopes the space will be used for community events put on by the city, the county and other entities.
The Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce is among the bank’s partners that will refer its best clients for special memberships giving access to office space twice a week and one-on-one consultations with small business capital providers. The Veteran Women’s Enterprise Center will select small businesses for incubator memberships, giving them access to dedicated, private office space and one-on-one support.
