As women’s soccer enjoys a growth spurt in the United States and Europe, the upstart Wave continue to connect San Diegans to the party.

The goal came off the left foot of Jaedyn Shaw, one of the bright teenagers emerging on the U.S. national scene.“We’ve got a stud already, scoring her first goal in her first game,” said Wave goalkeeper Kaelen Sheridan, turning then to Shaw, who grew up near Dallas. “What are you?
