Column: Obamacare study proves that having health insurance will reduce U.S. death rates

The late Uwe Reinhardt, in a final, posthumous book, explains everything you need to know about our dysfunctional healthcare system.

The new study, led by Jacob Goldin of Stanford Law School, was resourceful. It used data from an IRS initiative to send letters to 3.9 million households that had incurred the individual mandate penalty in 2016, reminding them of the tax penalty they faced if they failed to acquire coverage in 2017. The letters advised them to visit the federal enrollment website, healthcare.gov, or their state’s enrollment site to investigate their coverage options. About 8.9 million individuals resided in those households, creating a large sample population.

The initiative bore fruit. Those who received the letter were 1.3 percentage points more likely to enroll in coverage the following year than those in a control group who received no letter. That translates to “one additional year of coverage per 87 letters sent.”

They needed a study to tell them that? Next time they should just call me. I need the money.

How Obamacare Actually Works.. 💩MedicareForAll 👍

So will the use of illegal drugs that so many Americans love.

Duh!

But will bankrupt middle class Americans

Study: Hitler thought he was doing the “right thing” in 1941 after his paintings didn’t go anywhere.

BS.People can’t afford to buy INS therefore, more people benefit from Medicaid and that $ come from taxpayers. Obama & his clans continue to collect $ from INS buyers, people don’t dare to use due to high copay. Who did INS save? Rich people?

We needed a study for that?

Studies don’t prove. They suggest or provide evidence for.

.. in non GOP voters.

Imagine that

The GOP & Obamacare & JohnMcCain have BETRAYED the self-employed. We work hard, get no subsidies & are left with NO out-of-network provider health insurance options on the ACA Marketplace. What happens if we get sick while traveling for work? 😷 realDonaldTrump RonJohnsonWI

Almost as good as the study that found out water will quench thirst lol

Who paid for the study?

So would totally free for all (as in most of the civilised world).

Duh. I hope my tax dollars didn’t go toward this study!

surprise

In other words, we forced the all citizens to buy it, which means all people have insurance, which means we have more people 'living' than dying, so yes numbers will go up just from a statistical standpoint. But, for every 1 success story of Obamacare, 4 horror stories exist.

Umm.....when you force people to buy it or pay 1% of their annual salary as a penalty, yeah those statistics would certainly be inflated to show whatever result you want.

How much did this study cost to tell us absolutely nothing.

And I thought people at Stanford were supposed to be smart. Correlation does not necessarily equal causation.

Healing gene

Everyone dies. It’s 100% garaunteed. Nothing will reduce that. Not even that scam ObamaCare.

Thought this was The Onion for a minute!

Wow! How much did that common sense cost? AHA was good, the conman against common sense health was better.

HEALTH INC. High-Deductible Health Policies Linked To Delayed Diagnosis And Treatment

Falls under the category of...duh!!

Eating food increases fullness.

Wow this is brand new information 😐

Lib media🤷‍♂️

Didn’t need a study to know this

Ok, so repeal Obamacare so that more people can afford to have the coverage they need.

The global death rate will always be 100%.

hiltzikm Great article. Critically, ACA began to implement evidence based medicine - more than half of medical procedures don't work and more than half of drugs don't work. Iatrogenic illnesses and deaths are rampant - wasting healthcare dollars on procedures and drugs that don't work.

Duh.

That is common sense! Of course health insurance lowers the death rate.

To the surprise of no one, yet to the chagrin of one party

Yes 1 + 1 is really 2.

BREAKING: New report finds not getting shot is a great way to avoid being shot!

Yes, but do we deserve to live?

how'd they figure this one out?

GustavoArellano Imagine how much it would improve death rates if people got free healthcare like they do in most places with low death rates?

Duh!

Seems obvious.

You mean we won't die anymore?!? SWEEET Bacon here I come!

This really needed a study?

Common sense....
