California is famous for its ghost towns, but you don’t expect to find one where L.A.'s major art museum once was. Or pay up to 25 bucks to see it. Read marymacTV on the deserted (but expensive) state of affairs at LACMA:

continues to provide an iconic selfie-station, as does the B. Gerald Cantor Sculpture Garden, though it is closing in November.sense, which made it a bit embarrassing to show to out-of-towners and just plain sad for the rest of us.I’ve never been a huge fan of nostalgia — loving mentions of the pony rides at Fairfax or those legendary orange groves bring on the dry heaves.

As no doubt is true for many Angelenos, these buildings have been part of my life for many years. My husband and I had our first real date at one of LACMA’s courtyard concerts. I brought my parents, now long gone, here, and my kids from the time they were infants. And, it must be repeated, the daily visit still costs the same , as does the membership. After dropping $130 only to find a museum that is already drastically reduced and will get only smaller over the next year, my husband was ready to ask for his money back.In the end he didn’t; because we have loved the museum for so long, we will continue to support it.“We’ve always tried to keep our membership prices attractive,” LACMA Director Michael Govan said in an email.

marymacTV So sad!

marymacTV Why not display local artists work (revolving shows)

marymacTV Shady. Should’ve been $15 per adult.

marymacTV GoLLy-GEE !!! I wonder who pilfered off the collection ?!?!?!?

marymacTV I'm at a lost about renewing my membership at LACMA. Why pay for a membership I can't use for an unknown length of time?

marymacTV That light place is gone?!

marymacTV What? I went last month and saw three different exhibits. No $25 as am member.

marymacTV Thanks for the warning.

marymacTV Yeah, this was a cheap move. Nearly everything I had prepped my children to see for the first time was closed. They should have have offered a joint admission to Tar Pit museum next door. Felt so burned I really have no inclination to go back and risk getting screwed over again.

marymacTV I’m glad it’s getting a remodeling but it sure is sad to think of all the art packed away. I haven’t been to LA in a few years but I can still remember the smell of the tar pits, lol. So fun when I was little!

marymacTV Thank you for the info, it is expensive to visit there.

marymacTV oh man I forgot about that butt ugly new building they're putting up too... 😬

marymacTV Yes, it's partly why we ended our membership. So far, I'm not impressed with their plans for the new building or the future. A shame. L.A. deserves better.

marymacTV I went to the LACMA last June for the first time and felt ripped off. I won't be going back.

marymacTV Yes i like that

marymacTV It’s also famous for its vagrants and human faeces littering the streets. But all the authorities want to do is ban water bottles instead. And not call offenders/felons, offenders and felons as it’s too demeaning. WakeUp CA SanFrancisco
