Columbus Schools board member cites 'others' in apology over leaked document

The teachers' union is Columbus is throwing heavy allegations against a school board member only weeks before the board of education votes on possible school mergers and closures for Columbus City Schools. "I have let our District down," stated Columbus City School Board of Education member Brandon Simmons on Thursday.

At some point, I should have stood up and spoken up that the thoughts offered were unacceptable. At many steps in this process, I had the opportunity to say no. I had the opportunity to say no to ideas that did not and do not reflect my beliefs and values.

. CEA is now calling for Simmons' resignations and any other school board members who were involved to publicly name themselves. Simmons said he would not be resigning from the school board. CEA who endorsed Simmons during his campaign for school board last year said they'll be organizing a vote with their members to take back that endorsement.
