Columbia University said that it relied on"outdated and/or incorrect methodologies" in submitting data to U.S. News & World Report for consideration in the publication's 2021 college rankings, according to a statement released by the university Friday.

"The Columbia undergraduate experience is and always has been centered around small classes taught by highly accomplished faculty. That fact is unchanged. But anything less than complete accuracy in the data that we report -- regardless of the size or the reason -- is inconsistent with the standards of excellence to which Columbia holds itself," the statement reads."We deeply regret the deficiencies in our prior reporting and are committed to doing better.

The ranking of a University should be based on the intellectual knowledge and achievements of the graduates. Nothing else.

The whole thing is a SCAM. Columbia Univ. is not the only ones doing this.

“Tell me how you will measure me and I will tell you how I will behave”

From the those supposedly smart educated people whomaketheir living overcharging students to educate them. .

This can’t be news… Gladwell had this on Season 6, Episode 2 of revisionisthistory from July 1,2021… is this perhaps the first example of revisionist history of revisionist history ?

20% of of the ranking is based on reputation. Really. Omg. How about you base it on price. College is overrated. Not worth going to anymore. Save your money

US News & World Report rankings are why so many of you who belong in good colleges get overlooked. Drops in the rankings and the presidents office wants to know why people were admitted without the proper metrics. That magazine his ruined higher education.

It is not the Columbia University we know anymore. I advise everyone to visit the university campus to meet a couple of PhD students. They are all trash. I didn’t surprised seeing the wrong data submitted, l am surprised they managed to prepared a file to submit.

CNN has went too far Right. We used to live CNN but don’t watch anymore.

Prophet Muhammad PBUH appeared in Muhammad Qasim’s dreams twice in the same night and advised him that “Qasim! In order to save Islam and Pakistan you have to share these dreams.” Qasim has seen Prophet Muhammad SAW more than 300 times in dreams.

It will cause the chaos if they made the inaccurate data , for the college rankings, 🙁

Columbia acknowledges giving incorrect data for U.S. News rankingsColumbia University expressed contrition over faulty data it supplied to U.S. News & World Report. A math professor had blown the whistle on the issue. Which faculty the Department of Prevarication belongs ? Social Science ? They should all give false data. Why keep propping up the false narrative that the Ivies are better in faculty and student quality than the top/flagship public universities and HBCUs? Better financial endowments don’t translate to top scholarship, just more rigid norms. the fact that class size is an important static is telling. Giving more points for educating less people is insane.

PolitiFact - Inaccurate data fuels false conclusion about money for police in schoolsA Facebook post claimed it would be cheaper to put a police officer in every American public school than to 'hire 87,000 IRS agents.' The most reliable data sources suggest that's flawed. It also doesn’t account for staffing variables. The 'hire 87k' agents story has turned into all kinds of fantastical made up scenarios by the right, too misinformation IRS agents bring in a lot more than they cost. I've learned that PolitiFact is more political than factual. There was a time when I thought this was a good idea, but seeing how often the get it wrong, really discredits what their only purpose is. Should be renamed PolitiSpin.
